BIODATA

Catalina Vidal is a professor of Psychology at the Universidad de Barcelona, and she is graduated of Sociology at the Universidad de Chile. She has lived in Europe for a long time and currently she lives in Toulouse, France. In her early sociology career, she focus on society issues such as inequality and discrimination, but the last time her works have focused on mental health, especially in the effects that mental processes have in the feelings and the behaviors of people.

At present she is President os the "Help your MIND organization", this organization is composed of several psychologists, psychiatrists and sociologists, all of them helps people eith different therapies and they teach some classes related with different mental disorders. With this organization Catalina has published many articles in science journals wich show the importance of mental health, one of the was entitled "Mental Health: Disorders in your mind ¿How many do you know yourself?". 

On the other hand, Catalina is a talented Violin player. Together with her husband share the passion for the music. Sometimes they have shown their talent in front of more people. 

Post 10: English Language Challenges

Hello there!

The end of the semester is nearby and I never thought I would say that I am really sad :( because I have learnt so much things during the last time and it makes me so happy because I love learn others languages, so that´s why when I was in the school one of my favorites subjects was English, but the last year was not the same even it was very bored since the class was not of my liking, but this year even the blogs have been greats and very useful because now I think it is a good exercise to practice the language and to know new words, besides the first part of the class was so fantastic since it was the moment to be mistaken and the miss helped us, also I like this class specially when all of us participated in this because it was very interactive and we laughed so much, for that reason I think the english classes could be a llitle more interactive with more activities in groups, just that. I really hope to have classes with the same teacher the next semester because she is so nice, I understood very well the subject with her and I know to learn English and other languages is very important for my future in spite of now I don't use so much english except in special cases. 

Finally, thank you so much Miss for your happiness, because you always received us with a smile and nowadays it is very difficult to know someone like this and also, thank you for your aptitude every time we had questions.

Post 9: Changes to my Study Programme

Hello there, the ending of semester is close, so today I am going to write about my career and its disadvantages or things I think could improve. Firstly, I must to say I think the curriculum of my career, sociology, is very interesting but many times it is very exhausting, especially in first year because you come from other routine and the change is very sudden, mostly because in all subjects you must to read so much texts and them are really difficult so many sometimes you must read and read time after time the same page, for that reason I think the number of texts must reduce in some subjects like in history :( On the other hand, I think the transversal course must be renewed because it is really not very useful, its focus must be to help and  to guide to the students. Besides, I think the number of tests could be increase because them only are three or even two!!! and I think that it is not much considering that you must read approximately three hundred pages for one test!! are you kidding me?? it is too much. Also, the majority authors are European and men and it is very unfair for Latin Americans and women because of that I think it is important to add more authors because this way we would learn so much and varied. Despite the previous I hope learn enough to get a good work. 

Post 8: Your Opinion

Hello there, today I am going to write about different issues, specifically I will give you my opinion, first with respect to "Mechoneo", in second place about exotic pets and finally about the cloning.

I will begin saying Mechoneo is a Chilean tradition, it is make in universities and it is the welcome to the students of first year who start classes, in this celebration the old students throw different objects and even food, with the objective of get dirty to other new classmates and after them must ask for money to people in the street . At present this activity isn't make so many times, because it have generated many problems like the bullying or accidents. I think this activity was very dangerous and even very violent because many "games" was too abrupt and it is involve hits so I am so much thankful and happy because where I study don´t make the "traditional" Mechoneo.

In second place I think to have a pet is very difficult and you must have many time and patience because is like to have a child so its necessary many attention. This way I think to have an exotic pet is even more difficult, because those animals are very delicate, also them have a special diet and specific cares. On the other hand I think to have this type of pet is very expensive so I couldn't to have some. 

Finally I think the cloning is the worst, I never have been victim of this crime but I have many fear every time when I am in front of a cash machine or when I am buying something. I think that someday the security of credit and debit cards will be good but this is only a dream :(

Post 7: My Best Friend

Hello there!

Today I will write about friendship. Really I don´t have many friends and I  have never had, because I think it is very difficult to me to consider anyone as my friend, that way at present I can say that I have two good friends, I knew them at school but in different years. I have done many things with them so we have a lot of histories but now I see them each four months or four times a year, and it is very sad for me because in the past I saw them five days a week and we talked so much about our lives and I trusted them so they was my best friends, but currently I can´t say the same, because things have changed so much. However I can say my boyfriend is my true friend now, because I spend many a long time with him. I knew him in the university and coincidentally we live very nearby so now we are together, and it is very nice because sometimes it is necessary count on someone, especially in sad or stressful moments and that occur many times in my life, also I think is very important to be friend of the person you love, because like this relation is better and more strong.

In this way I am very happy with friends that I have, I have created ties very beautiful and I really hope it stay for all my life but I know it is so difficult and it is a effort of both persons. 

Post 6: Postgraduate Studies

Hello there!

Today I'm going to write about postgraduate studies. Currently I am in my second year at university, so i have enough time to think about it, however, I have some ideas base on what I have learned until now. In my first year I have a subject named "social psychology" and I really loved it, I think this subject was the most interesting at first year, because the teacher was very interactive with us and during his classes he taught us about different social experiments and curious conclusions about behavior of society. So I think I would like to study a postgraduate course about psychology, besides it´s a good complement for a sociologist and  I really have interest in mental process, perceptions and the behavior of people, because all of this would be useful even for myself, so I would like to learn things like mental tests, experiments or knowledge related to therapy of depression and mental disorders.

I would like a postgraduate course like this abroad, specifically in Spain or France, but the second option is more difficult to me since i don´t know french and I haven´t many opportunities to learned it, in spite of this, I prefer to study in other country because I have the felling about in other places teaching could be better. In addition I would like to study in-person class but in part time course because I think in that moment I should work for to obtain money to pay the course or for my maintenance. Otherwise I would VERY HAPPY if I studied a patisserie course, but that is part of other history. 

Post 5: My First Job

Hi! Really I have never had a permanent work, I have only worked with my dad firstly, because he work independently so sometimes he need some help, especially when he have work to do in home such as paint something, even once we had to plant many flowers in a playground from the school when he works, and it was actually very beautiful! However, two years ago I worked in a store from shopping mall during Christmas season, specifically for two weeks. The store called "Opaline" and there sell kid and baby clothes, and they are so cute!! All in there is very small and you fell babies smell as soon as you come into.In that work I had to wrap the purchases of customers. Especially in afternoon and evening the store and all the mall filled up of hopeless people mostly mothers and persons who searched many gifts. Once a mother bought about 5 giant bags fill up of clothes and shoes to his son. I worked nine hours each day and pay was very good, also I had four workmates and they was very nice with me. My last day of work was the day of Xmas, so the day was short and in fact it was a little sad, because my work had finished. I really hope return work in shopping mall, it is a great experience, TOTALLY RECOMMENDED.

Post 4: My favorite TV Show

Food, Cook and taste, three words that I love. For this reason I will talk about Masterchef, my favorite TV Show during the last time. This TV show search the best amateur cook in Chile. The four season start this year 2019 at March, but its recording begin before in Colombia. Instead the First season was realize in 2014 and the winner was Daniela Castro, later in 2015 began the third season and the winner was Alfonso Castro, then in 2017 the winner was Faryd García and I was really happy for him because was evident that he studied a lot and he gave the best of himself.  Besides was create a season with children, and it was so  incredible, because to be in a kitchen is dangerous for the fire or hot utensil and personally even I have a little of fear when my mom asks me for help to cook lunch. In that season the winner was Emilia Muñoz. At present there are nine participant at the TV show, so very soon all of us will know the winner and I don´t have a favorite, because everyone cook surprising with decorations very beautiful, so I like all of them. I would love to be in a TV Show such us Masterchef,  I really enjoy it and I have learn so many things. 

Post 3: A person I would like to meet

Hi!

Today is a good day to talk about music and art. I will begin saying Beethoven :) :). Really I LOVE the classical music, because it is very relax, pleasant, and you can anything to the beat of this music, especially it is useful to be concentrate and make the homeworks, also it is an excellent tool for those  moments when you feel stress and nothing gives you calm. Therefore I'd have liked to meet Ludwig Van Beethoven. He was born in Bonn, Germany, he was a composer, orchestra conductor and pianist. His father realize that he was very talented and he thaught him to play piano and violin. At only twelve years he was a promising piano player and he learned a lot of more with him teacher called Christian Gottlob Neefe. He lost his hearing when he lived in Vienna, where he live since 1792 to his death in 1827, that problem managed that he thought in suicide, but that didn't occur and he leaved a musical legacy with 32 sonatas and 1 opera.Therefore I love him, because his ability to create music was surprising even though he didn't listen. Also I would love to learn to play violin and make songs. 

Post 2: The best concert ever

Hello!

In October 1st, 2014 was the concert of Miley Cyrus in Chile because of the "Bangerz" Tour, and I was there with my best friend, in Movistar Arena. The doors opened approximately at seven o'clock p.m. but we were there since 11:30 a.m, because we were very very excited since we had the tickets in our hands. My friend has given me the ticket some days before cause we loved to this artist. When finally the concert started began shouts, we were surrounded by a lot of lights of many colors, suddenly Miley appeared on the stage and the ovation was enormous. I remembered that day forever especially because security staff took all our food :( :( but those are only mishaps. However, this is not the only concert to wich I have gone, the concert of The Vamps and One Direction also are in my personal list. The first of them was very special cause the vocalist achieved that the crowds stayed in silence for one second but that moment was amazing. Good luck in your next events!

Post 1: A country I would like to visit

Hello everyone!

This post is about something that I love with all my heart, the country I want to visit as soon as possible, France. This country, especially its capital Paris has been in my dream since I had six years, because as soon as I see the Eiffel Tower in a magazine I fell in love. Paris is known as  "Ville lumière" or "City of Light" of its enormous tower which is iluminate at night, this monument is the most visited in the world, but when started its construction it was seen like a iron monster. Actually is used as broadcasting. In addition french gastronomy is considerate a global benchmark. Without a doubt I want to taste all the food, especially the desserts such as Crepes, Macarons and Clafoutis. I want to travel to this city to know many places that I have seen a lot of times in TV or photos, study french and I would like live there, some years. From there I would like other places, but that is other history.

How I have changed?

Hi everybody! 

In the past, I was different only in some aspects, particularly related to my tastes or my preferences. So, until the age of 10 I was very tricky, I hated pineapple, broccoli or beans, but now is difficult that I don't like something, so my mom had not more anger because of her little daughter don't eat her dishes. Also I love mathematics, and I hated language and communication and history,when I was in basic education perhaps since it was very easy and I didn't need spend hours and hours thinking about one exercise, and also because my first teachers were very nice and they explain very good so the matter was very clear in classes, but then, in mid-level education everything changed, the maths mean only numbers and letters everywhere without any sense to me. In spite of that now I am studying sociology that relating more with language and history. In addition, I remember when I was child I was excessively quiet and a statue, I didn't move a finger, but now that is different to me, I don't saying that I am a person very daring or talker, but at least I enjoyed so much to talk with my friend the past year in school.

A subject that I enjoyed

Hi!

This is my first year of university, all the subjects are introductory and some are very boring, but others has been too interesting, helpful and pleasant. One of these was Social Psychology. This class was amazing, the teacher explained very good and he was so nice with us. In this course we learned about how the social relations influence in the behavior from people, specially how they act in certain situations. So we knew a lot of experiments with the society, and a few of these was unethical and irresponsible because to implement this device the persons don't must know about what is happening in reality so they are deceived. Also we knew some strategies to get information such as surveys or interviews. In addition, I learned about social movements, specifically that if you have more friends that participate in that, you have more chances to participate equally. All of this was interesting because it was related with the conscience of people, with their subjectivity and with this I was able of explain to me several things about daily life.

My passion (?)

Hi guys!
I really don't have a passion, but I like to do handicrafts and decorate things. I have been many craft in my life, for the school or as gifts to my family, my friends and to me, and I really love to do different things, I feel relaxed, happy and it's a fun hobby for me.
Also I like decorating spaces such as my bedroom with drawings, I have a large drawing in my wall, it took me more than one week. In addition, I love cook and decorate desserts such as chocolates, cookies, cakes and put many colors. My parents always tell me that I must dedicate myself to cooked and sold some of these desserts because it is beautiful and tasty but I don´t like to sell things :(. 
I hate doing nothing, but now I don´t want rather than rest, and I just want the end of the second half of the year. So I don´t do too much, but suddenly I draw or cook something, but I would like to make more. 
I wish you much energy!!!!. 

My favorite picture

Hi everybody!

This picture was taken recently, three days ago, so for now I can say that it is my favorite for many purposes. First of all, my boyfriend gave me this cheerful flower arrangement. He arrived to my house at ten o'clock in the morning, then he called me and said "I am outside, hurry up". I was going out and he gave me a hug and said "happy birthday!!". I was so excited, this was a very beautiful detail I loved it, I am so so so in love with him. I took this picture after this because my boyfriend’s mother asked me that. Later we were to the cinema for watching Bohemian Rhapsody, the tickets were free for my birthday! We spent more than two hours at the cinema but we loved the movie. At night I celebrated my birthday with my parents and I eat a lot. So this picture has become important to me because reminds me of a very nice and lovely day, also because was a present from my boyfriend and I love so so so much him, so if you are reading this remember that and don't forget it. 

A moment of my life

I have a modest life and I am a simple person. so I am not surrounded by many and varied activities, plans or obsessions. Because of this my existence revolves around the university and my house although sometimes also around my boyfriend's family. My mornings generally start at quarter to eight, and my nights finish at about 1.00 a.m. I don't sleep a lot so i have become in a zombie with eternal bags under my eyes. 

The days move between Metro stations, classes, lectures, works, tiredness and also meal, particularly meal!! because who is not happy with something delicious to taste? I think that nobody, but most likely there are these mad men and women. I am not one of those, I love eat with all my heart, no matter if it is sweet or salty and that is even better if that moment is shared with someone special and I really love do this with my boyfriend, those minutes are full of happiness. 


I really hope and imagine that precise moment when I am hungry or just bored. Also I like to cook and specially decorate some preparations such as cakes, pies, cookies or bonbons, but I do this hardly ever. I love the colors in dishes and I very much appreciate to chefs that also make art. 

My favourite Gadget

I don't like so much gadgets, for that reason  I only use my android smarthphone but neither I am fan of that. I have my cellphone since more than one and half year, my parents gave it to me at Christmas time. I save all kinds of information in my mobile device, such as papers, texts, class presentations or something which I consider interesting, but I didn´t bought a SD card so almost I don’t have much space.

In the same way, I downloaded several applications which each other Adobe Acrobat, Netflix, U-Cursos and a few games for my boring moments. Recently the control buttons haven’t worked well, it is a mess because sometimes seems as the demon entered into it!!. In spite of I need my cellphone specially to communicate, to do homeworks or read so if I lose it I will suffer overmuch, particularly for my photos and videos because I don’t support, I know that I should make.

Why I chose this program

During my life I wanted to study several careers. When I was little I had the dream to become in a veterinarian 'cause I like so much pets but spiders and reptiles scare me that is why it would be horrible. Also I wanted to be teacher since I had many teddy bears, they were my students and I created a classroom in my room with them and it was the most fun. 

By the time I was ten I realized that I enjoyed learning other languages such as english or french, from that I started to think that this could be a good option. Later I discovered the career called Tourism and hospitality and it was very interesting for me because I love travel and to meet new places so it was my choice till last year but after taking the PSU I thought  and searched many information about careers, establishments and jobs and I found sociology.


I chose it  because I liked humanistic area, its subjects seemed to be interesting and there are many possibilities to get jobs. Until now I liked most of the topics of classes and texts so I really hope this has been a right choice to me.

↣Hi, my name is Catalina

I was born in a city of Chile, Santiago, in November 1999. I have eighteen years old. In my family we are four persons, my mom, my dad, my brother and me. We have three dogs and one pussy, her called Luna and is too much jealous but we love and we protect them. I live in a plot for more than 4 years and I hope live there for much longer, because is a peaceful place and it has a great nature.

I'm actually study sociology in Universidad de Chile, I don´t know so much about the career and its topics or referents but until now I liked subjects, texts and authors, by the same I'm interested in learn, read and know more. 

On the other hand, I have several hobbies, including to watch action movies, go to the cinema, read, to eat chocolate ice cream, to listen different styles of music and I want to be happy, because the life can be a dream.↢
